Suffering and memories

This quote may sound insensitive but, at a deeper level, hits the nail on the head on why we really struggle in life - not being responsible for how we respond to life events. Thought of sharing it since it refers to topics that are at the heart of PLRT sessions - what happened, what is the meaning we make out of what happened and, how we deal with what happened afterwards

No matter how much suffering you went through, you never wanted to let go of those memories

Very valid Muralidhar, Murakami’s books all delve on the deeper senses rather than the literal . And this quote is right up our alley as to why some have those horrific memories and don’t want to let go of them . Clinging onto moments that have negative emotions/moments rather than the happier positive ones are a human thing, I feel. As they say being a good human is like being a goalkeeper, no matter how many goals are scored people will only remember the ones that were missed !!

Could it be maybe “No matter how much suffering you went through, you didn’t know how to let go of the memories”.
